The #BarcelonaPrincessTeam reaches the Barcelona Triathlon goal

On October 8, the Barcelona Triathlon was finally held, with the participation of more than 3,500 athletes.

Several colleagues of the Hotel Barcelona Princess participated in the triathlon, some of them for the first time and others repeating the experience of previous years. All of them motivated and wearing the green shirt of our 360 sustainable project, they form the #BarcelonaPrincessTeam.

Our computer technician Víctor thinks that this year has been very hard, the sun beat very hard.

Joan, our chef, loves the tour because it includes emblematic places of Barcelona such as the Arc de Triomf or the Sagrada Familia.

Santiago, the director of this Hotel in Barcelona, loves to participate in this sport event with the companions of the hotel.

Our head of F&B Miquel, makes the triathlon individually for the first time, and he loves it.

On this year the three first winners of the triathlon in Barcelona were Fernando Alarza, Luis Miguel Velasquez and Guillem Rojas Moreno.

This year the female participation has been of 25% and each year more women are joining this sport event. The first women to arrive were Marta Sánchez, Mariblanca and Laura Gómez.

We congratulate the Barcelona Triathlon for the great organization of the event, and we thank you for your trust in allowing us to be for one more year the Official Hotel of the Barcelona triathlon.

Thanks also to the #BarcelonaPrincessTeam for your implication, and to all the supportive athletes who participated in this magnificent sporting event celebrated on the 25th anniversary of the Olympic Games of Barcelona 92 that brought joy and sport to the city.

Our chef participates in the cheese fair Montanejos

On the Next 7th and 8th of October, our chef, Pedro Montolio, will participate in the Feria del Queso Artesano Montanejos a cheese fair of the agri-food sector that will be held in Valencia, where the best cheese masters will meet.

The fair is organized by the Tourism Foundation of Montanejos of the Valencian Community, and some lactic companies will participate in it too.

During the cheese fair it will be possible to taste the best flavors, and more than 10.000 tasting are expected along with showccokings with the best chefs.

This year our awarded chef, Pedro Montolio, offers a live showcooking in which the spectators can see directly how a professional of the kitchen works, with the cheese as protagonist.

At the Hotel Barcelona Princess we like to know more about our staff and we want you to know them too, for this reason we usually do interviews to know a little more about them, in this case we speak with Karlos, our dynamic bartender.

1. Where are you from?
I am from Poland, from the city Poznan, a nice interior and big city with a great history.
I also lived in England for 10 years. As a curious fact, the player Robert Levandowski played on the football team of my city.

2. What do you do in the hotel?
I am the food and beverage supervisor of three of the Barcelona Princess Hotel’s restaurants / bars and the events that are organized in their different event rooms.

3. How long have you been here?
I have been living in Barcelona for three years, and I started working at the hotel two and a half years ago.
I chose to come to Barcelona because I think that is a very complete city with beach, mountain, a perfect weather, and open and sociable people. I think it’s a very cosmopolitan city with many festivals

4. What do you like most about your work team?
What I like the most is the good atmosphere among the workers.

5. Do you want to tell any anecdote about your experiences at the Hotel Barcelona Princess?
One time a couple celebrated their anniversary at the hotel and the girl asked me to prepare a special cocktail as a surprise for her boyfriend.
I’ve always had a creative mind, so at the same moment, I had the idea of making a mojito and decorate it with leaves and lemons as a smiling face. The couple loved it and started taking photos. I named it “Happy mojito”.

6. What cocktail do you recommend to those who come to The Gym Bar?
To the girls I recommend the “Close to you”, I created it with my girlfriend on Valentine’s day and is a sweet cocktail with a touch of passion.
To the boys I recommend the “Mango cooler” a refreshing long drink made with mango and vodka, with a delicious fruity flavor.

7. From your day to day, how do you contribute to the hotel’s social and environmental responsibility plan?
In the food and beverage department of the hotel we use seasonal products that come from proximity. Even in our breakfast our customers can identify them with a 360 green logo.

8. Last year you were part of #BarcelonaPrincessTeam and you did the Barcelona Triathlon 2016 for a good cause. Do you repeat this year?
Yes, on the last year a had a great time doing the Barcelona triathlon in team, besides, all the #Barcelonateam, did it to raise funds to fight against rare diseases. This year I repeat in the cycling circuit.
9. Which is your favourite place in the hotel?
The terrace of The Gym Bar, is a fun and dynamic place, every Thursday of the summer there is a DJ so there are people and it generates a very good atmosphere.

10. If you came to visit the city, what could not you miss seeing or doing in Barcelona?
I could not miss the beautiful Sagrada Família and the Tibidabo mountain, which has amazing views of the city.

We are in the International Year of Sustainable Tourism and the organisation that has provided 2017 with this important commitment is the United Nations General Assembly.
The area of sustainability is of great importance for the Hotel Barcelona Princess, and for this reason we have a project that involves this important theme, the “360 Princess & you Sustainable“, which promotes actions that help to develop actions of sustainability, corporate responsibility, and environmental development.

This past July 5 the hotel has joined this fight on the World Environment Day to promote and improve the mentality of protecting the world, and the Director of this Hotel in Barcelona, Santiago Hernandez was the first to accept the challenge # Tourism17. This time is JOAO (@jgordicho in Instagram), an esteemed client of the Hotel Barcelona Princess, who joins the # Tourism17 challenge. Joao is from Portugal, he likes gastronomy, enjoys life and visits our terrace frequently but also likes to travel and do it responsibly.
This is why Joao, as an eco-friendly traveler, accepts this green challenge and turns 17 times to promote the implementation of the ONU 17 objectives of sustainable development in tourism.

Hotel Negresco Princess also accepts the #Tourism17 challenge

The director of the Hotel Barcelona Princess accepted the #Tourism17 challenge and span 17 times for a tourism that protects at high risk of social exclusion and this sustainable Hotel challenged the Negresco Princess to join this challenge. (See video)

The #Tourism17 campaign is an initiative to to raise awareness about responsible and sustainable tourism during the 2017; year in which the the United Nations General Assembly has named 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development to promote sustainability as a new development model.
