A snack at the Neus Puig Open Center with the best company

The Barcelona Princess Hotel is collaborating with the Trinjove Foundation for several social and solidarity actions such as the “Tree of Illusions” campaign for the collection of toys, the selective collection of waste and in different programs which goal is to overcome situations of social exclusion.

As we wanted to know more about the foundation, recently part of the Barcelona Princess and Negresco Princess Hotels team visited the Center Obert Neus Puig, that belongs to the Trinijove Private Foundation. A place in which 40 children from the Tinitat Vella neighborhood and their families, most of them at social risk, receive attention, training and consulting.

The welcome given by all the coordinating team and of course by the children was really great from the beginning and the first greeting received was a “Bonjour” by a charming child.

Marc Fernández, the Centre Obert manager, explained us more things about this Center and its values  where social, educational and recreational tasks stand out.

Iñaki Segurado, Vice President of Trinijove, was our great host and he compared the Center with an hotel in the sense that there are many cultures and where one of the Center’s main goal  is to become a space for integration and social cohesion in the neighborhood.

After the visit, we said hello to the children who, laughing and having a good atmosphere, enjoyed the fruit and a delicious snack made by our Chef Pedro Montolio.

Surprises did not end here. Afterward Iñaki made us a tour through the Water House of Trinitat Vella neighborhood. A modernist space open to the public and renovated with the help of the foundation in which different activities are carried out as art exhibitions.

Art and creativity at the Poblenou Open Night 2017

This November 24 is the Poblenou Open Night, night in which you can perform creative and cultural activities from 7 pm to 1 am. This event is organized by different associations of the Poblenou Urban District.

This entertaining event has been held in the Poblenou district for five years, and year after year it is full of people from Barcelona and tourists from all over who enjoy the art and creativity of Barcelona.

One of the main activities that will be carried out during this edition of the Open Night of Poblenou, is the WAC – Window Art Circuit, in which different artists will have the possibility to make a sample of their works in various spaces. These artists can come from different disciplines such as painting, sculpture, or photography among others.

At the Hotel Barcelona Princess we join the Open Night 2017  and #wacpoblenou and in the hall of the hotel you can try our cocktails and special tapas in The Corner Bar, prepared specifically for this event, while you witness the creation of a work of art.

From May 4 to May 14 you can taste two different tapas in each of the 34 participating Hotels. A contest tapa (there are 3 categories), which can be voted by the public and a solidarity tapa whose benefits will go to a social or environmental cause.

The Hotel Negresco Princess and its gastronomy return to participate in the Hotel Tapa Tour in Barcelona. In the previous edition the tapa “Crispy scallop with three sauces:  coriander, beetroot and saffron” (see) was among the finalists of the popular vote.

Hotel Barcelona Princess semifinalist of the Plancton Marino Challenge of the Hotel Tapa Tour 2017

The Hotel Barcelona Princess also accepted the challenge of the second edition of the Hotel Tapa Tour in Barcelona and it has been one of the 6 semifinalists hotels of the qualifying round of the Plancton Marino Challenge.

The challenge is to create a tapa where the star ingredient should be the Marine Plankton (Plancton Marino). A nutritious and antioxidant food that enhances the aroma and exquisite sea flavor.

For this challenge, Pedro Montolio, chef of the Hotel Barcelona Princess, appointed to Chef Joan Esteve the difficult task to create an innovative tapa with Plankton Marino as a novel ingredient. The result: Planet Plankton with prawns, truffle and hazelnuts.

Planet Plankton is a Tapa out of this world. The tapa consists of a planet formed by two hemispheres stuffed with prawn tartar and truffle, with a creamy heart of Marine Plankton and separated by a grissini of prawns.

In the base of the plate a moon formed by sand of dried bread of prawns and hazelnuts with a few points of green mayonnaise of plankton.
