Palau de la Música, one of the greatest representatives of Catalan modernism

El Palau de la Música is a music auditorium designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the greatest representatives of Catalan modernism. It was built between 1905 and 1908 and declared a National Monument in 1971.

It was destined to concerts of orchestral and instrumental music, as well as choral interpretations and music productions. However, in the Palau there have also been cultural, political, theatre plays and, of course, the most varied musical performances. Nowadays, this kind of performances are still held. And you can complete the experience with the lovely café and restaurant venues inside, as it is written in the Lexus Magazine.

The Concert Auditorium is the most important venue of its type in Cataluña, and it regularly stages world premieres. When entering, aside from the heavenly skylight, you will be struck by the organ, a bust of Anselm Clavé, another of Beethoven, and a plethora of decorative motifs: palms, fruit, flowers and jewels.

The foyer of the Palau is a great venue that has been converted into a spacious café-restaurant whose culinary highlight is definitely breakfast. It´s a good way to start the visit of the Palau.

The Palau restaurant, at open air and placed on the ground floor in one of the places in Barcelona to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing food. Then, you have The Mirador Restaurant, located at the top of the Plaza del Palau and overlooking the Art Nouveau façade by Domènech i Montaner. It offers a menu of lunch and dinner weekdays (starter, main course and dessert), a tasting menu and a menu with a selection of seasonal cuisine.

This music auditorium is placed in Barcelona, specifically in Sant Pere neighborhood and our Negresco Princess is near to this majestic building, so it is a must if you are on vacation in Barcelona. As tip, we suggest you to see one of its corners where you will see the legend of San Jordi.

The Negresco Princess hotel celebrates its second anniversary

In the heart of Barcelona, just one minute walking distance from Plaza Urquinaona, the Negresco Princess Hotel opened its doors in December 2015 in one of the busiest corners in the city.

In addition, the hotel has a restaurant that stands out for its relaxed appearance  with Mediterranean touches, that can be seen on the bar’s mosaics, the sea and stone colours, and the flowers and plants in the lamps that reminds fishing nets.

The Negresco Restaurant is also a living space open to culture in which pairing, talks with actors and directors, screenings of documentaries, series or live music can be found.

We believe in culture and that is why we want to offer activities that make people feel at home, “says Jairo Mayolas, director of Negresco Princess and Restaurante Negresco. (see video)

This space, new for the people of the city, wants to take advantage of its privileged location so that the citizens of Barcelona and their visitors can use it for their meetings, work lunches and, obviously, during their leisure time.

A snack at the Neus Puig Open Center with the best company

The Barcelona Princess Hotel is collaborating with the Trinjove Foundation for several social and solidarity actions such as the “Tree of Illusions” campaign for the collection of toys, the selective collection of waste and in different programs which goal is to overcome situations of social exclusion.

As we wanted to know more about the foundation, recently part of the Barcelona Princess and Negresco Princess Hotels team visited the Center Obert Neus Puig, that belongs to the Trinijove Private Foundation. A place in which 40 children from the Tinitat Vella neighborhood and their families, most of them at social risk, receive attention, training and consulting.

The welcome given by all the coordinating team and of course by the children was really great from the beginning and the first greeting received was a “Bonjour” by a charming child.

Marc Fernández, the Centre Obert manager, explained us more things about this Center and its values  where social, educational and recreational tasks stand out.

Iñaki Segurado, Vice President of Trinijove, was our great host and he compared the Center with an hotel in the sense that there are many cultures and where one of the Center’s main goal  is to become a space for integration and social cohesion in the neighborhood.

After the visit, we said hello to the children who, laughing and having a good atmosphere, enjoyed the fruit and a delicious snack made by our Chef Pedro Montolio.

Surprises did not end here. Afterward Iñaki made us a tour through the Water House of Trinitat Vella neighborhood. A modernist space open to the public and renovated with the help of the foundation in which different activities are carried out as art exhibitions.
