At the Barcelona Princess Hotel and Hotel Negresco Princess we take the environment and sustainability very seriously, and for this reason we participate in different green actions to minimize the emission of gases that can contaminate the ozone layer.

We have #OzoneHeroe beacuse thanks to the control over the facilities by all our staff of the Hotel Barcelona Princess and a rational use by our guests, the electricity consumption per person in 2016 was reduced by 14% with respect by 2015.

This means that it has ceased to emit 164 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. This carbon dioxide saving is equivalent to the photosynthesis of a forest of 8,238 trees during a year.

Our chef participates in the cheese fair Montanejos

On the Next 7th and 8th of October, our chef, Pedro Montolio, will participate in the Feria del Queso Artesano Montanejos a cheese fair of the agri-food sector that will be held in Valencia, where the best cheese masters will meet.

The fair is organized by the Association of Manufacturers of Cheese of the Valencian Community, and some lactic companies will participate in it too.

During the cheese fair it will be possible to taste the best flavors, and more than 10.000 tasting are expected along with showccokings with the best chefs.

This year our awarded chef, Pedro Montolio, offers a live showcooking in which the spectators can see directly how a professional of the kitchen works, with the cheese as protagonist.

This 2017 the tourism takes a big turn in its operations, since it undertakes to carry out actions that contribute to have responsible and sustainable tourism through the #Tourism17 campaign.

We are in the International Year of Sustainable Tourism and the organisation that has provided 2017 with this important commitment is the United Nations General Assembly.
The area of sustainability is of great importance for the Hotel Barcelona Princess, and for this reason we have a project that involves this important theme, the “360 Princess & you Sustainable“, which promotes actions that help to develop actions of sustainability, corporate responsibility, and environmental development.

This past July 5 the hotel has joined this fight on the World Environment Day to promote and improve the mentality of protecting the world, and the Director of this Hotel in Barcelona, Santiago Hernandez was the first to accept the challenge # Tourism17. (Watch video). And not only that, in order to promote this campaign, he challenged the Hotel Negresco Princess so that they will also tour. (Watch video)

This time is JOAO (@jgordicho in Instagram), an esteemed client of the Hotel Barcelona Princess, who joins the # Tourism17 challenge. Joao is from Portugal, he likes gastronomy, enjoys life and visits our terrace frequently but also likes to travel and do it responsibly.
This is why Joao, as an eco-friendly traveler, accepts this green challenge and turns 17 times to promote the implementation of the ONU 17 objectives of sustainable development in tourism.

Let’s Clean Up Europe in Barcelona

More than 50 workers from different hotels in Barcelona, including Hotel Barcelona Princess and Negresco Princess and organizations like Barcelona Forum District, Fundació Trinijove and Gremi d’Hoteles de Barcelona take part on Friday 12 may of the garbage collection campaign Let ‘s Clean Up Europe in the Natural Parc Serra de Collserola.

The Let ‘s Clean Up Europe is an activity which is included in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR).

The volunteers from six hotels (#Hotelscompromesos) collected a total of 336 kg of bulky residues after cleaning the area of Parc Natural de la Serra de Collserola located  in Can Caralleu. These residues were classified and separated to make a selective collection.
